Supporting Vocational Education, Kingland Tire Educates Vocational High School Students to Become Candidates for Tire Mechanics
TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – The development of the two-wheeled automotive world is increasing rapidly and there are increasing demands for the skills of mechanics. Mechanical skills must be developed since studying at Vocational High Schools (SMK), especially Automotive Vocational Schools.
That’s why PT King Tire Indonesia (KTI) presents CSR for the Nusa Mandiri Vocational School, Pemalang, Central Java.
For two days Kingland Tire provided competency training for motosport tire technicians. In front of hundreds of Nusa Mandiri Vocational School students, Kingland Tire provided theory and practice that the SMK students had yet to get. Namely knowledge of the world of tires for daily use and tires for racing (racing). Everything is thoroughly peeled here.
Maliki, Principal of SMK Nusa Mandiri said, currently the participation of the automotive industry is needed to add knowledge and knowledge to students. Because those who are experts and competent in the automotive industry provide their knowledge to students.
He said, through this training it is hoped that the students of SMK Nusa Mandiri will become more proficient in both the material and practice later.
“There were 15 of our students who were selected to be helpers (mechanical bodyguards) during the 2022 FIM Mini GP event in Sentul, West Java. Our target is that 30 students will be sent to become helpers for the FIM Mini GP Indonesia this year.
Of course, what must be trained apart from their dexterity is their skill and agility in the field. That’s why we are working with Kingland Tire,” said Maliki in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, 13 June 2023.
Sulihin from the Semarang Province Region XII Education Office happily welcomed SMK students from Pemalang being selected as FIM Mini GP helpers. He really supports this activity.
Joko Suseno, Head of Marketing Division Kingland Tire provided training material on the first day, covering the process of making daily tires and racing tires. Theory regarding the function and role of tires to an explanation of the proper and correct tire disassembly process.
“We see this opportunity as a moment for the company to share knowledge with prospective mechanics. Which of course will also be of benefit to consumers.
The more they understand tires, the more they will increase their awareness of driving safety. Because tires are one of the most important factors in driving safety, both for daily use and especially for competitions,” said Joko in front of the students, followed by a question and answer session.
On the following day, students of SMK Nusa Mandiri had practice. There are two sessions, the first is the practice of disassembling tires that are good and correct for daily tires and racing tires. Second, these students are directly involved in the circuit, as if they are helpers.
“To complement the abilities of these prospective mechanics, the knowledge conveyed by Kingland Tire is also accompanied by field practice. So that prospective mechanics know very well the difficulties and obstacles that may arise, as well as tips or ways to solve them. For example, there are techniques so as not to damage the tire bead area, ” said Ega Suryana, Technical Service Manager Kingland Tire.
The combination of delivering material with practice is the main attraction. And this was immediately felt by the prospective mechanic participants. Rizal, a grade 11 student at Nusa Mandiri Vocational School said he was very proud to gain knowledge and practice.
He admitted that initially he did not know the process of disassembling tires and other techniques. But now, he is gaining knowledge and practice that is beneficial to him.
“Now I have gained knowledge and practice. At first it was really difficult, now it’s a bit easier. I’m curious, so I’ll repeat the practice again until I can really do it,” said Rizal. This tall student will be ready if he is assigned to be a helper at this year’s FIM Mini GP Indonesia.
The same thing was said by Arif Novi, Keanu’s father, a Mini GP racer. He hopes this training program can be expanded. In his opinion, the direct contribution of the automotive producers is really needed to provide a more precise picture for prospective mechanics at automotive vocational schools.
