Students at SMK Nusa Mandiri, Ampelgading, Pemalang, Central Java were given theory by Kingland Tire for one day, Saturday (10/7/23). Today, Sunday (11/7/23) all students take part in the correct practice of disassembling tires.
Ega Suryana, Produck Test and Tech Support Dept. Head of Kingland Tire, who was accompanied by Joko Suseno, Head of Marketing Division of Kingland Tire, practiced proper and correct removal and installation of tires for daily and racing tires. The students were divided into groups. Each student who is a member of the group is given a different task.
“One student to remove and install the valve. One student to disassemble tires and another student to check the air pressure in the tires. Then the tasks will be rotated alternately. So all students can feel the same task, “said Ega.
Starting from disassembling the tire, removing and installing the valve to applying air pressure in the tire has its own technique. Not just as long as you take it off and plug it in. This technique is taught so that all Nusa Mandiri Vocational High School students can understand when they go down as helpers (mechanical bodyguards) at this year’s FIM Mini GP Indonesia.
“Between daily tires and racing tires, the practice of disassembling them is very different. The Mini GP’s wheels are ring 12 in size, while for daily tire sizes the automatic motorbike has ring 14 wheels. Ega admits that the one who concentrates more is when he practices on racing tires. For example, there are techniques so as not to damage the bead area. Bent beads will find it difficult to accept air pressure in the tires (inflated). And will be prone to leaks. Which is more powerful when installing Mini GP tires. Because the diameter is small,” he said.
Still according to Ega, if the world of racing safety is in the tires. Main tires. So the tire installation must be correct and comfortable to use by the racer.
While Rizal, a class 11 student at Nusa Mandiri Vocational School, said that it turned out that removing and installing tires had its own technique. He admits that at first he saw the installation of tires as easy. But when he practiced he experienced difficulties.
“Now I have gained knowledge and practice. At first it was really hard, now it’s a little easier. I’m curious, so I’ll repeat the practice again until I can really do it,” said Rizal.
This tall student will be ready if he is assigned to be a helper at this year’s FIM Mini GP Indonesia.
Circuit training
After practicing installing tires at the school site. In the afternoon they went straight to the circuit. They seemed to be a Mini GP helper. At the Widuri beach circuit in Pemalang, Central Java, all Nusa Mandiri Vocational High School students were again divided into four groups. They were given direction and guidance by Arif Novi, Team Racing who is also the father of Keanu, a Mini GP Racer.
The students have different tasks, some are timer officers and some are technicians (checking motorbikes, maintaining the paddock and picking up racers after the race). Thus the students are more in control and not confused when they become helpers later.
